Kirat community observes 'Ubhauli' festival

People from different Kirat community-namely Sunuwar, Rai, Limbu and Yakkha in traditional attires observed Ubhauli at Tundikhel, Kathmandu on Saturday. Ubhauli festival is observed during Baisakha Purnima (full moon day in the Nepali month of Baisakh May/June). The term Ubhauli means going up mainly refers the migration of birds and fish from lower level to high hills. This festival is usually marked the beginning of the farming season, during which Kirat Community worships the god of nature requesting for the bountiful crops. This is the glimpse of scenes captured during the festival.
